Police have arrested the mother of the suspected killer of a convenience store owner and his sister on charges of helping him after the robbery, and are looking for his girlfriend, according to Leesburg police.
Alex Lopez, 25, was arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder in the robbery of Raied Shihadeh, 51, at his M&M store on Picciola Road on May 30. However, he was not tracked down at a motel in Osceola County until July.
How did he get there, and how did he managed to hide out so long?
Court records show investigators are compiling a stack of evidence, including surveillance camera footage from nearby businesses on U.S. Highway 441/27 and information about a car. Yet, paperwork shows he qualifies for a public defender because he has no income and no assets.
Detectives have determined that his mother, Patricia Kinchens, his sister Breanna Lopez, and his girlfriend, Kaili Dupuis, helped him avoid capture.
Investigators issued arrest warrants on all three women Thursday on charges of accessory after the fact of premeditated murder, armed robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm/ammo by a convicted felon, and use of a weapon during a felony.
Patricia and Breanna were arrested with assistance from the Lady Lake Police and Wildwood Police Departments. Police are asking for help locating Dupuis by calling 352-787-2121 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477), which offers rewards.
