LAKE COUNTY, FLA. – The death toll from Hurricane Milton climbed to 3 in Lake County with the discovery of a couple in Tavares that died of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning from a generator at their home.
The bodies of Perry Leintz, 67, and Constance Albrecht, 85, were discovered Tuesday afternoon at 24 Holly Drive in Tiki Village Mobile Park. Police say they were called to the home by neighbors requesting a well-being check.
Residents told detectives they were using a generator in a shed attached to the house.
The deaths are still under investigator pending the Medical Examiner’s report.
Meanwhile, the Daily Commercial has reported that 64-year-old Randy Danyl was found dead inside his truck parked in front of his mother’s home in Fruitland Park. Investigators say he went to the home to help clear debris left over by the storm.
The Medical Examiner believes a heart condition led to Danyl’s death.
The Palm Beach Post reported 25 people died in Milton’s deadly swath. Twenty-seven died in the state two weeks earlier when Hurricane Helene stormed ashore, out of a total 228, from Georgia to Virginia and Tennessee.
