Posted on January 27, 2025 by frank

LAKE COUNTY, FLA. — A codefendant in the drug rip-off case that saw one man convicted of murder last week, entered a plea Monday that resulted ln a 35-year prison sentence instead of a life sentence.

Deandre B. Anderson, 34, copped a plea to principal to second-degree murder with a firearm.  Last week, Circuit Judge James Baxley found Undray T. Benson guilty of principal to first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence.

A third man, Marvin H. Ellison J r., 41, took his chance and proceeded with a trial Monday.

Three men were charged in the 2022 murder of Antwain Hart in Umatilla.

Prosecutors Nick Camuccio and Gabe Lozano cited investigators’ use of phone records, license-plate readers and surveillance cameras as evidence that involved the theft of a rented Jeep with a minimum of 6.5 pounds of marijuana inside.
