PINE LAKES, FLA. — A two-vehicle collision northeast of Pine Lakes early Saturday claimed she life of a 17-year-old from Leesburg, and injured three others.
The accident happened at 4:10 a.m. at State Road 44 near the intersection of Tomahawk Trail when a 2011 pickup truck driven by a 43-year-old DeLand man heading east collided with a westbound 2015 sedan driven by a 18-year-old man from Fruitland Park.
The right front end of the truck struck the right front portion of the car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash is still under investigation.
The driver of the pickup was taken to Advent Health DeLand. The driver of the car and both rear passengers were taken to HCA Lake Monroe Hospital with serious injuries. The right front passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
